I feel that quilting offers validation for my creative efforts. I still have the
luxury of seeing my designs come to life, perhaps no longer up on the stage, but
up on my design wall and at the quilt shows. I find that, being a deadline-oriented
person, I enjoy the schedule and inspiration that quilt competitions offer.
The special bonus is the encouragement and friendship of those in our large
quilting community. |
Snowshoeing, gardening and mystery novels keep us busy, when we are not in our workshops,
in opposite ends of the basement. |

I come to the quilt world from a sewing and theater background. For 26 years, I was
a costume designer for the Baltimore Opera Company, the Minnesota Ballet, the
A.T. Jones Costume House in Baltimore and the Malabar Costume House in Toronto.
My Victorian pillow business, Confections, (1974 to 1984) supplied 165 stores
throughout the Midwest. For five years, I was an instructor in the theater department
at the College of St. Scholastica, teaching costume design and construction.
For the past fifteen years, quilting has been my passion. I was honored, in 2006 to be chosen Minnesota Quilter of the Year. I have twice been the Show Chair for the Minnesota Quilters Show and Conference, 1997 and 2001. I have had numerous quilts juried into national shows, winning awards at many of them. |
